The Atlas of the Republic of Austria, catalogued for 1960–1980, was prepared by the Austrian Academy of Sciences’ Commission for Spatial Research under Hans Bobek, with cartographic supervision by Erik Arnberger, and printed and published by Freytag-Berndt und Artaria. The editors’ retrospective dates its installments to 1961–1980. Issued as loose sheets, with principal maps at 1:1,000,000 and administrative-boundary overlays, it covers physical geography, settlement history, population, agriculture, industry, transport, tourism, administration, culture and functional regions. Analytical and synthetic maps include detailed studies of Vienna and survey-based central-place systems. The prolonged production incorporated developments in social geography, ecology and quantitative analysis, while leaving some statistics dated. The Academy’s 1986 Maps of Austria’s Regional Structure supplement updated population change and socioeconomic structure.

The Atlas of Spatial Development in Austria (ÖROK-Atlas), published by the Austrian Conference on Spatial Planning, began in 1983; the listed book dates to 1984. Later reviews document continuing additions. Bernard Rouleau’s 1990 review describes landscape-format sheets measuring 297 × 630 mm, mostly at 1:1,000,000, accompanied by explanatory texts and statistical tables. Themes include population change, employment, industry, housing, commerce, water management, natural environments and conservation regulations. The 1988 installment added household and employment projections extending to 2001, regional economic growth, railway conditions, hydrology, river pollution and forest inventories. Rouleau’s 1993 review records further population, tourism and transport maps in the 1988–1989 additions.
