This review evaluates four new map sheets (Landforms, Land Use, Temperatures, and Climate) from the Second Series of the Atlas of Australian Resources, published in 1973. The author notes that these maps surpass their First Series predecessors in information richness, cartographic refinement, and classification sophistication, particularly in morphostructural representation, land-use categorization, and multidimensional climatic analysis. However, certain shortcomings are identified, including the obscuring of co-dominant grain symbols by livestock grazing colors on the Land Use sheet and the reduced visual clarity of the Landform Types map. Overall, the Second Series maintains a lighter touch, greater finesse, and more consistent style, offering more pertinent detail for Australian geographical research.
