This review assesses the Atlas van Tropisch Nederland, published in 1938 by the Royal Netherlands Geographical Society in collaboration with the Topographical Service of the Netherlands Indies. The atlas, planned since 1909 and realized in 1928, aims to serve both practical use and scientific survey. It comprises 31 double plates with 166 maps, covering topography, physical geography, anthropogeography, history, and economy. Notable features include multilingual legends (Dutch, French, German, English) and comprehensive coverage of both the East Indies and American colonies (Suriname, Netherlands Antilles). The review notes minor flaws in hypsometric tinting combined with shading, and less detailed treatment of the West Indies compared to the East, yet overall praises it as an excellent scientific atlas.
