This article reviews the 'Geographical Atlas of the Socialist Republic of Romania', published in Bucharest in 1965 by the Didactic and Pedagogical Publishing House. Compiled by a team of leading geographers (V. Mihăilescu, V. Tufescu, T. Morariu, N. Al. Rădulescu, etc.) under the coordination of Prof. V. Tufescu, it is the first work of its kind based on rigorously scientific foundations. The atlas is organized into four parts: the country's geographical position, physical geography (relief, geology, climate, hydrology, soils, biogeography), population and settlements, and economic geography (industry, agriculture, transport, tourism, etc.), comprising 138 maps and diagrams and 63 views of the country. The reviewer considers the atlas a highly successful work with superior scientific content, whose cartographic and technical execution reaches the highest national standards, making it suitable not only for secondary education but also for university students and teaching staff. The review concludes with suggestions regarding map numbering and updating data on natural reserves.
