Geographical Reviews: The Atlas of Poland

This review discusses Professor Eugeniusz Romer's 'Geograficznostatystyczny atlas Polski' (Atlas de la Pologne), published in 1916 during World War I. The atlas, which comprehensively addressed the Polish question, was deemed so influential that the Central Powers attempted to suppress its circulation. It covers physiographic, historical, demographic, economic, and social aspects, utilizing advanced cartographic techniques and rich statistical data. Despite minor shortcomings in ethnographic details, it is hailed as a model of cartographic work, with a forthcoming edition to include English text.
