Book reviews: Atlas of the Netherlands

This review evaluates the completed Atlas van Nederland, published in thirteen installments between 1963 and 1977 after extensive scientific and technical preparation. Comprising 98 double-page maps with bilingual explanatory texts, the atlas is praised for its thematic scope, design, and international standing. Its success resulted from coordination among an editorial committee and seventeen specialist commissions, while sales exceeding 8,000 copies indicate broad recognition. Because early sheets had become outdated, supplementary maps on resources, water, and demographic change were planned for 1978–1980.
