This review assesses the seventh installment (1971) of the National Atlas of the Netherlands. Its ten new map sheets cover geophysics, climate, income and wealth, agriculture, livestock, industry, trade, banking, and communications, using dot-density and proportional-symbol techniques. The maps maintain a consistently high standard of compilation and printing. However, their extensive analytical subdivision into numerous component maps increasingly impedes synoptic interpretation. With 65 sheets now published, the atlas was expected to be completed in 1975.
