Notes: Two books at reduced prices
Summary
This notice from the Rhodesiana Society communicates two primary items: the arrangement of the Society’s next Annual Dinner and a special book offer for members. The Annual Dinner is scheduled to take place in Bulawayo on 1st November, 1968, a date aligned with the city’s 75th anniversary celebrations of its occupation, allowing visiting members to participate in the commemorative events. In addition, the Committee has secured discounted rates for two publications about Rhodesia. The first, *Great Spaces Washed with Sun: Rhodesia*, is a 192-page non-political pictorial volume produced by the National Federation of Women’s Institutes of Rhodesia, profusely illustrated in colour and black-and-white, depicting the country’s landscapes, peoples, and daily life. Its normal price of 22s. 6d. is reduced to 19s. 6d. for members, inclusive of sales tax and delivery. The second, *Rhodesia: Its Natural Resources and Economic Development, 1965*, is described as the nation’s first and only atlas, a large-format (17″ x 15″) work with meticulously crafted maps and expert-written supplementary articles covering agriculture, climate, geology, population, topography, transport, and other facets of national life. Members may purchase this atlas at a 25% discount: £2 7s. 3d. delivered within Rhodesia, or £2 10s. 6d. overseas, down from the published £3 3s. Orders must be sent to the Hon. Secretary, with cheques or postal orders payable to M. O. Collins Ltd.; sterling cheques are accepted from overseas members. The notice seeks to inform members of both the forthcoming social event and the time-limited opportunity to acquire these specialized reference works.
