Summary

This review assesses four map sheets in the 25th installment of Atlas över Sverige (1970), covering railways, roads, population, and cultural institutions. The railway maps document network development, nationalization, contraction after 1960, traffic intensity, and sharply reduced travel times from Stockholm. Road maps visualize regional density and daily traffic, while population maps compare density, municipality types, and commuting within a new administrative framework. The final sheet locates state and municipal museums and local historical societies. Using multiple scales, color classes, flow bands, diagrams, and explanatory texts, the atlas presents Sweden’s spatial structures and historical change with substantial detail. The reviewer concludes that its clear, restrained cartographic design and supporting materials provide high informational value.
