Summary

Meeting in Leipzig on 23–30 September 1974, the IGU Commission reviewed national and regional atlas projects and discussed environmental, economic, social, and cultural mapping, international cooperation, bibliography, and continued standardization. Edgar Lehmann advocated environmental and planning atlases and newer technical methods, including computers. For its planned 1976 Yerevan meeting, the Commission recommended further discussion of environmental maps, cross-border and superregional atlases, urban mapping, and the definition of a regional atlas.
