The textbook (first edition, 1978), prepared in accordance with the curriculum approved by the USSR Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education, presents the theoretical foundations, methods, and technology of map design, editing, and compilation, taking into account the latest advances in scientific and technological progress. Particular attention is paid to the automation of laboratory map production processes, which is being vigorously introduced into modern cartographic production.
