Summary

Eugeniusz Romer, the greatest Polish geographer, was born in Leopoli on the 3rd of February 1871, and died in Cracow on the 28th of January 1954. He organized and directed during 23 years the Institute of Geography of the University of Leopoli, where he founded and directed also the Cartographic Institute « Atlas ». His large scientifical production is concerned especially with cartography, climatology, geomorphology, and glacial phenomena. Romer was a first rate scientist and a great teacher, so that the most part of the chairs of geography in the Polish Universities are at present occupied by his disciples.
