The Atlas of the Armenian SSR appeared in Armenian and Russian in 1961, published by the Armenian Academy of Sciences. A. B. Baghdasaryan was chief editor; compilation involved the geography sector of the Academy’s Institute of Geological Sciences and collaborating research institutions. Its maps covered natural conditions, population, economy and history, including agricultural zonation, energy resources and the Sevan–Hrazdan hydropower complex. Historical maps extended from Urartu to the Soviet period. Contemporary reviewers praised the physical-geographical coverage and technical execution. They also identified weaknesses in economic classifications, coordination between maps, legends and the fit between scale and information density; Dowsett noted the omission of Nakhichevan.

Tigran Mets published the Armenian-language National Atlas of Armenia, Volume A, in 2006 and Volume B in 2008. English-language publications titled National Atlas of Armenia: Vol. A and Vol. B followed in 2014 and 2018 respectively.
