Atlas d’Algérie et de Tunisie was conceived in 1910 and published in French during 1923–1935 by the Government General of Algeria with Tunisian participation and financial support. René Lespès’s 1931 review described eight published fascicles, including geology, hypsometry, climate, phytogeography, and rural habitation, and praised their sources and cartographic quality. R. de Flotte de Roquevaire’s 1932 account outlined seven sections covering geology, hypsometry, climate, vegetation, population, economic geography, and administrative geography. It described the use of a uniform scale for comparison between maps and the intended application of the assembled geographic data to agricultural development and administration.

Djazaïrouna: The Practical Atlas of Algeria was published in French by the Institut National de Cartographie et de Télédétection in 2004. In his 2007 review, Abed Bendjelid described nine sectoral themes and recent mapping of seismic phenomena, internal migration, wetlands, water infrastructure, and hydrocarbon networks. He praised the pairing of urban-centre maps with aerial photographs and the educational value of reusing earlier research on natural environments. He also welcomed more accurate geographical terminology and considered the book useful for tourism and urban navigation, while identifying weaknesses in some statistical maps and legends and omissions in the selection of cities.
