Summary

This article reviews the 'Geographical Atlas of the Socialist Republic of Romania', published in Bucharest in 1965. Compiled by a team led by Prof. V. Tufescu, the atlas comprises 139 maps and 73 photographs, aiming to systematically present Romania's natural conditions and economic life. The review notes its logically structured progression from geographical location to regional maps, covering physical and economic aspects. A key strength is its profound geographical interpretation, exemplified by overlaying hydrological data on relief, isohyets, and isotherms, or correlating crop distribution with ecological zones. Through large-scale regional maps and comparisons with pre-war data, the atlas effectively highlights the dynamic development of the socialist economy and regional characteristics.
