Summary

This article presents the background, structure, technical features, and scientific significance of the National Atlas of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic. Compiled over ten years through collaboration between the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences and the Central Administration of Geodesy and Cartography, the atlas comprises 434 maps and over 200 graphic supplements covering natural conditions, population, industry, agriculture, transport, and living standards. Its base maps are at a scale of 1:1,000,000, and it includes English and Russian summaries for international accessibility. The atlas achieves international standards in content completeness, cartographic methods, and production quality, serving as a major scientific achievement and a rich data source for research and practice.
