A Swiss national atlas

Summary

P. Vosseler outlines a proposed Swiss national atlas, inspired by the International Geographical Congress in Paris, postponed for other geographical projects, and revived following the completion of relevant publications and the availability of maps from the national exhibition. Its planned sections cover natural landscapes, cultural landscapes, and Switzerland’s relations with the wider world. Drawing on existing specialist surveys and voluntary preparatory work by researchers, Vosseler envisages the atlas serving planning, public education, and spiritual national defence. The atlas remains a proposal awaiting completion.
