Summary

This article reviews the publication progress and academic value of the National Atlas of the Netherlands. Published by the Government Printing and Publishing Office and produced by the Topografische Dienst in Delft, the atlas has released twenty-nine plates to date. Using a scale of 1:600,000 with layer-colouring for clear terrain representation, it also includes regional soil maps at larger scales. The article notes that the atlas appears at an opportune time, mapping profound changes in the Netherlands' economic and industrial life since 1945, including topical themes such as natural gas distribution. Additionally, the article briefly introduces The Shell Nature Lovers' Atlas and reports on personnel changes and honours within the Royal Geographical Society.
