Summary

This article reviews the 'Atlas of Australian Resources', published by the Department of National Development between 1953 and 1960. The atlas comprises 30 plates with explanatory booklets, containing a total of 82 maps. It is organized into three main sections: physical geography (including geology, minerals, climate, hydrology, soils, and vegetation), economic geography (covering land use, agriculture, livestock, industry, energy, and transport), and population geography (including distribution, demographic change, and immigration). The review praises the atlas as a first-rate geographical reference, valuable for regional studies and research.
