## 2017/2018/2109 Geographical Atlases of the Transcaucasian Republics A.F.AslaniKashvili Academy of Sciences, Tbilisi, U.S.S.R. A.B.BAGDASARYAN Academy of Sciences, Erevan, U.S.S.R. S.G.RUSTAMOV Academy of Sciences, Baku, U.S.S.R. The atlases of the Armenian S.S.R. (1961), the Azerbaijan S.S.R. (1963), and the Georgian S.S.R. (1964) are published in a large edition in both the national languages of these republics and in Russian. The republics' dimensions and their configuration determined the main map scales: the Atlas of Armenia, 1:1 000 000 and 1:1 500 000; the Atlas of Azerbaijan and the Atlas of Georgia, 1:1 500 000 and 1:2 500 000. They also determined the peculiarities of map arrangement and the types of binding the Atlases (an album-type for the Atlas of Armenia and book-type for the Atlases of Azerbaijan and Georgia). The subjects and contents of these maps correspond in general to the recommendations given in the book of Atlas nationaux, published in Moscow (1960). Each of these atlases, however, includes maps with more varied subjects which reflect the specific peculiarities of natural and social-economic conditions of the corresponding republic. The number of maps and their percentage in the total map volume (shown in brackets) given below characterize the structure and contents of each atlas accordingly:
